When most married men in "Western Civilization" had first been married to their first wife, most had made a covenant with their wives at their wedding. In making that covenant, many men thereby bound themselves to their own words, as they covenanted to their wives in that covenant, expressly covenanting that they would "forsake all others".

And so, now, as some men might later learn of the truth of Christian Polygamy, the issues of covenant breaking doctrine become very relevant and important.
